Twenty-eight years ago, at age twenty-two, Jeanne Warren’s life would change forever. A new diploma, new town, new start, and fate were all on her side. One chance in a million brought her to the right place, at the right time, and straight to the love of her life. Life’s obligations turned her world upside down in a single heartbeat.

He could not believe the words he was forced to speak.

“Don’t wait for me,” he said. “I may never be back.”

He was being sent across the continent on another assignment. He felt as if he was giving her permission to move on without him, but what choice did he have? There was barely enough time for a proper goodbye, and he was gone. Thoughts of never seeing him again haunted her.

Jeanne was done with life. She pulled her drapes and went to bed, and clung to his photograph and cried. Depressed for weeks, Jeanne had no desire to live. Until a tiny seed of love and hope beckoned her and gave her something to live for.
